Wow...this is post 1001...not to confuse you but perhaps I am such a "poster" (not to be confused with a poser...but definitely proud of being a hoser!) because in ancient times (okay... a long time ago anyways..) my family; The Posgate's were the guardians of the postern gate in the village. (Actually, back then there was a T in the middle of the name and it was PosTgate..as some people still spell it erroneously)

That was a longwinded intro..all just to say I had a great time at the Guelph Jazz Festival yesterday. The highlight for sure was the keynote speech from Anthony Braxton. He was so entertaining, insightful, inspired, eccentric...then hearing many of my friends playing with him later was a great end to the evening.

I am looking forward to heading back tonight to hear the Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra tonight. I heard Charlie do an onstage interview and that too was entertaining and inspirational.

I heard Marianne Trudel's quintet too which was quite a tight and talented band with Marianne's usual high calibre NY style jazz compositions.

I have lots more details to share but I need a quick nap before I head to my gig and then off to Guelph (all day at a kids soccer tournament in the sun will zap the energy out of ya!)

btw, I was even thinking I might give a detailed rap-up of my time in Guelph as a podcast...no promises.
