The Red Guitar is a success already! Seriously, if success was measured in great music, vibe, friends, good sound, food, adult beverages...wow. I am so happy. Kind of proud actually. I know all I did was call the musicians but I am truly excited about a new place to play and to listen and to hang.

Occhipinti/Murley were the right way to open the place. Heck...David had a red guitar. (not planned) corry and Tania did a great duo set too. People really responded to their music and the Underhill lead his quartet through some exciting, blues influenced jazz party music. They were so good. so good to hear Mike Milligan on the bass. I think it is a good room for bass sound...hurray.

I am looking forward to too more nights of jazz bashing over there. Make sure you come down.

sometimes there is nothing I like more than blogging from the road. Now I am back home for half a minute and thought I better throw up this news as it is truly exciting. My friend Corry Sobol is opening a new jazz club in toronto this weekend.

sure I am booking the music but that is really the less interesting part of the story. I hope people spread the word and make it out to the opening bash (no cover for that!!)

Must get there early as it is a tiny but cool music room that she has on the main floor.

p.s. Montreal gig was well attended and sold lots of Cds (even if folks had to go outside, fight the crowds etc. to get to a kiosk to find the disc) I think we played well but really wish we had more gigs in a row to get in a real "road groove".
