I am playing hookey from hockey today (i had to say it!) as I didn't have a lift out to the west end and didn't have the energy to do the long ttc trek this morning. (plus who's kidding who...it's summer!!)

However I am excited about working on my second podcast. My friend, owner of the Red Guitar Corry Sobol is on her way over here to do a short interview for podcast #2.

While I was waiting I found a really neat website where you can search out music online...ie. if you wanted to find a place to listen to Frank Zappa's music on a website, this will take you there.

I searched for Zappa videos and this is what I found. It is a great, CNN program, 20 minutes in length with zappa arguing for non censorship of music in the U.S. with a couple really annoying conservatives.

Total worth checking out. (it streams, so no download is necessary)

Don't forget to check out the list of artists at the Red Guitar for the next ten days as it IS the first day of the Toronto Jazz Festival!

Last night was a hoot at the ol Red Guitar. It was so nice to hear John Millardplay the music from his latest Cd with his new band. He is really one of my favourite singers. He was playing all these beautiful classic Canadian folk tunes from the Cd but my fave numbers were the trio arrangements of his songs from the first two records.

So many great musicians there hanging out last night which is not uncommon at the RG or most jazz clubs but it was neat to see Anne-Marie McDonald there, Ron Sexsmith was sitting right beside me having what seemed like a lot of fun and Kurt Swinghammer too among others.

I was happy to be hanging out with some friends of mine also really good singers...it was a bit of a singer night...I feel sort of...left out. haha.

I took Dylan and Leo to Dylan's soccer game tonight (always nice to be out in the open park, fresh air (sort of) birds singing and kids laughing and smiling while they kick the ball around (often in the wrong direction!)

Now I am going to work on the music for my gig next thursday. Tim Posgate's Reduction Trio with Dave Clark and Evan Shaw. (June 29, 7-845pm) We are rehearsing tommorrow. Funny, with my music I often have as much or more fun at the rehearsals. (although you really can't beat large, attentive audiences like we had at the Rochester Jazz Fest last week)

Well, it was a good day...a fantastic game seven Stanley Cup final. (too bad the bad guys won) and my first day of having my podcast online...yup it's finally there.

And I had a little spot on the radio this morning (CBC) talking about the Music Gallery. I seemed like an odd choice for this but they needed someone with a memory of the place...heck...I have some good memories.

This led to a nice link from the CBC website to my podcast....not a bad first day huh? haha.

Thanks tori!!

thanks also to all the friends who listened to it on the big launch day and had lots of ideas and constructive criticism. It will get way better. I am sure of it. Especially when I start interviewing some friends.

bedtime! Looking forward to Yoga tommorrow.

Go Oilers Go!!

Go Oilers Go!!

Go Oilers Go!!

Go Oilers Go!!

Go Oilers Go!!

Go Oilers Go!!

It amazes me how little I get done as the days pass by. Sure, I am having lots of fun and spending lots of time (all my time?) with my family. But, what work did I do this weekend?....almost none.

My wife Julie mentioned what a great weekend of "family time" it was...and she is right but if I looked back on the last seven days and calculated how many hours I spent on music and/or business, it would be ridiculously small.

The only thing I did this weekend was finally get my podcast online. (this I made a little time for under the guise of a few selfish moments on Fathers Day!)

You can use this link to check out my first podcast.

I should warn you that it is not available at itunes yet as a free download but all the future episodes should be.

As I have said before, I highly recommend checking out podcasts on your mp3 player if you have one. It is a fun way to "entertain" yourself on the subway or while walking around the city.

My first episode is really just a test and I hope that each one will get better. I am hoping to have a new one each week but we shall see.

Anyways, I look forward to any feedback.
