You can vote for all the fine jazz musicians we have in Canada
here as part of the National Jazz Awards.

Personally, I am excited to see my pals Lina Allemano (best trumpet) and Quinsin Nachoff (best sax) nominated and hope you agree by voting for them. (both members of the tim posgate hornband)

Unfortunately there appears to be a little bit of a controversy regarding the unbalanced nature of the Toronto musicians included so far. I wish it was a little more balanced too as many of my favourite musicians are from different parts of Canada.

Unfortunately those that don't live here and are not deeply involved in Toronto's local scene wouldn't know that there are more "first rate" players on my street here in Toronto than there are in some provinces. I don't mean any disrepect to the other provinces. What I am trying to point out is that, with the massive attendance of U of T, York, Humber and Mohawk there are lineups of at least 20 kids who could do a great job filling in for all the legendary musicians they grew up listening to that live here in the big smoke. (there is also at least ten heavy if not legendary players on each instrument at the front of the line before the students)

I am not sure this is a good thing, but it is a fact.

p.s. having said all that I hope some of the winners are from out of town as it will give the whole thing a little more cred.
