I shall Be Released was a celebratory concert for the 30th anniversary of the Band's Last Waltz. It seemed like a half decent idea but how hard would it have been to realize that Howard Johnson was a key part of the sound of the horn section and he is alive and well and would have been more than interested to come and be part of this?

Oh well...no one ever said musicians were the smartest folks around.

In all the hubub about THE LAST WALTZ—never underestimate the power of two great marketing whizes (Bill Graham and Robbie Robertson)—the shows that produced ROCK OF AGES are always overlooked. One listen to "Don't Do It" from the latter—horn arrangements by Alan Toussaint—is all the proof you need that these shows have it all over those from Winterland in '76, despite the star power of Dylan, Morrison, Young, et.al. Good point, Tim.
